Compare Front Entry Doors by Fit, Not Just Appearance
Before settling on a design, decide whether you are replacing only the door panel or updating the frame as well.
A door-only option may work with an existing frame, but matching width and height is only the start. Have your installer confirm the frame condition, hinge positions, lock preparation, and compatibility with the selected door’s thickness. For our 1.73-inch-thick models, make sure the frame and hardware accommodate that measurement.
If you need a frame and handles, review the available additions on the product page. A door supplied with frame components is not necessarily prehung, so confirm whether assembly and fitting are required.
For paired entry doors, check the complete opening dimensions and how each panel operates. Allow enough clearance for the intended swing on both sides of the entrance.
Would a Built-In Exterior Door with Dog Door Fit Your Routine?
An exterior door with dog door access can let your pet pass through without opening the main door each time. At a front entrance, the first consideration is where that opening leads: an enclosed porch or fenced area serves a different purpose from a doorway facing an open driveway.
Before selecting a pet-door model, check:
Opening dimensions: Compare the usable pet opening with your dog’s measurements, rather than relying on a “large” label alone.
Step-over height: Consider how easily your pet can step through the opening.
Closure options: Check how the pet opening closes and whether the model offers the access control you need.
Placement: Confirm that steps, porch furniture, or other obstacles will not block the pet’s path.
If pet access is not needed at your front entrance, choose a model without the opening and consider whether another exterior doorway would be a better location.
How do I know whether the dog door will fit my pet?
The two dog door sizes for the Tenoner are 10.12 in × 16.93 in and 10.75 in × 15.16 in. Compare your pet’s measurements with the usable opening dimensions provided for the selected model. Check the step-over height as well, particularly for smaller or older pets. If those measurements are not listed, ask before ordering.
